Finally, the Netherlands was the stage of it’s first paper cEDH tournament. Held in the beautiful LGS Het Spellenhuis, in the center of Haarlem on the 3rd of June.
The tournament structure was 4 swiss rounds of 90 minutes and a cut to top 4. A shout out to topdeck and their Command Tower application which made the registrations and pairing a breeze.
Our price support was €10 for every swiss win, because every victory matters. And for the top 4 we had an additional prize pool of €160.
We had all seats filled with 32 excited players and we were super happy to see that even players from Germany and Belgium joined the competition. It was clear that cEDH community is still growing and we welcomed players from other format as well. We kicked of the first round just before noon.
For us as organizers it was amazing to see how much laughing and relaxed talking was going during the matches. The vibe continued throughout the entire day, after a quick win some pods just continued friendly games. And even after the event, there were still people playing. The last match finished perfectly in time and after 4 rounds we had a clean cut to top 4.
1st seat
Roderick piloting K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth (Roderick went undefeated in the swiss!)
2nd seat
Marc piloting Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
3rd seat
Guus piloting Breya, Etherium Shaper
4th seat
Simone piloting Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
In turn 4 Marc managed to sneak through a Filter Out to clear the board of all fishes and cast his commander Jhoira, for the fourth(!) time. That gave him enough gas to setup a Breach line at which point the opponents offered their handshakes in concession.
It was great first edition of the Lucky Top Deck Series. And we are excited to continue and grow these events.
On behalf of the whole LTD team, thanks for making this such an enjoyable day.
