Lucky Top Deck Series 4 Tournament Report

Maratiam (Vincent)

It was a great sunny spring day for Lucky Top Deck 4 and we started the series with 36 players ready to take the title of champion. The winner will also go home with a ticket for the now sold-out European Championship that will be hosted in Portugal in November

People playing

The games started relaxed and it took a while before the first results came in. Max drew first blood and claimed the first win of the day in about 40 minutes. It was great to see that a lot of people brought new spicy decks, this was to become a day with a nice variety of gameplay. Bart had the fastest win of the day, killing the table on turn two in 19 minutes.

People playing

This time Perry was our host of the day and took care that everything went as smoothly as always. So for me this was a new experience as I got to actually play in the tournament and share games with you all. I had a really good time and had a lot of fun with the players. I was also happy I managed to get to win a game on my own brew, which ended up in a 30-minute storm turn(!!!) so apologies to everyone that you had to suffer through that.

Top 4 pod

The Top 4

Roderick and Bart both came out on top with 15 points in the swiss. Antonio and Max claimed seat 3 and 4.

1st seat
Roderick piloting K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth (undefeated in the swiss!)

2nd seat
Bart piloting Dargo, the Shipwrecker / Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor

3rd seat
Antonio piloting Omnath, Locus of Creation

4th seat
Max piloting Tivit, Seller of Secrets

Winning move

With two proactive decks in seat one and two, the blue decks in seat three and four faced a big challenge as this final could be over fast. But instead, it became a 2 hour grind. A game where life totals mattered, and player removal was inevitable. Max and Antonio lost before the match was over. But Roderick with K'rrik couldn’t stop the Rakdos onslaught and Bart won the match with his very spicy Dargo / Keskit storm list! Congrats to our new Lucky Top Deck champion!

Bart is now also invited to show his skills in the European Championship in November, we wish him good luck!

The champion

As always, after the tournaments there were a lot of players who continued playing till the late hours. It was a very good to see everyone again and meet new players, some of whom have travelled for many hours.

Thanks everyone for coming and for the awesome day!
